The war in Syria Few people expected the demonstrations in Syria in early 2011 to lead to a war. However, nearly 500,000 Syrians (many of them children) died in that conflict, and several million were displaced, resulting in what the United Nations has called "the greatest humanitarian disaster since World War II."

The fighting has abated, but many thousands of Syrian children are unable to return to their homeland. For these refugee children, life is a struggle. Few opportunities for education are available to them and they are often resented by the citizens of the nations where they have fled.

One lady, however, rather than expressing resentment for these refugee children, decided to help them. She started a school for them, offering education where none was available. Her enrollment has swelled to 150 children and many are on the waiting list…if the school's services can expand.

Can you help us with that expansion? Your donation will help these children gain a basic education.
